Blogger's dashboard is telling me this will be my 198th post [the sidebar seems to differ ???]. So.......to celebrate, I am having a give away. I will announce a winner at post 200. Wow, I didn't think I'd ever get this far. I could not have imagined how much support and friendship I would have, so thank you to all those lovely people who read what I go on about.
The photograph above shows the little things I've been playing with lately. I have made a glasses case, and a comb case [with wide tooth comb] - there are two things I just can't stand, not being able to read the menu, and having untidy hair...........LOL.. I've taken two photographs, one inside with the flash, and one outside with natural light. It's hard to show the correct colour. Suffice to say, they are browny/reddy/goldy/bronzey with some stitching, and glitter for good measure. I've made them slightly different in size, and one has brown felt lining, the other black. I thought that might make them easier to sort out in one's handbag. They are quite blingey [I suppose you guessed that already]. Now, I must own up. They began their life as two dried up baby wipes.
If you would like them as a gift, please leave a comment. You know the usual drill. I hope someone will like them.
Well...........today marks the end of June.........one half of our year has gone, and I'm sure most would agree it seems no time at all since 2011 arrived. At the moment here in Australia we are experiencing winter, and in recent years many organizations have tried to use the theme Christmas in July to help generate interest in fund raising, etc. For my Christmas in July fellowship, I'm offering a little give away to say thank you to all those who care to visit and comment on my blog.
At the moment, I'm dreaming of a beach house, one with beautiful decor, no dust, no dirt, all the mod cons, and days of reading at the beach. I realized today that it's been 18 years since I've seen the ocean!!
If you would like to receive the cream damask hand towel with small inserts of Kogin embroidery [pictured above], please leave a comment here. I will leave this open for a week or so. I have used DMC #783 [old gold] for the embroidery, and hope that it will not be too obtrusive in anyone's home. The hand towel is 100% cotton, made in Brazil. It actually looks quite at home in my bathroom with it's imitation timber cupboard faces.
Thank you again for such an enthusiastic response to my knitted shawl, and I must say your support helps motivate me each day.
Firstly, I must apologize for my absence from blogging. The heat has been awful here lately, and I don't use the office much when the mercury is being nasty, plus I have had to do some stitching, and took advantage of a chair under an airconditioner duct [no flies on me!!].
Secondly, I must sincerely thank people for their lovely comments regarding my last post. I am so pleased my little boxes were a hit with readers. They are certainly some of my favourite pieces.
Now, to the subject of today's post. Recently I was fortunate to have been chosen the winner of a give-away on Frances Leate's blog - http://quiltingowl.blogspot.com/
To say this give-away is generous is an understatement. I have photographed [above] the fabrics included in the package, ie eight fat quarters, all in these glorious colours. The contents were carefully wrapped in one of the quarters, and tied with a lovely cream satin ribbon, but I neglected to take the shot prior to opening said prize!!
But wait, there's more!!! Also included were several patterns, a new rotary cutting wheel [which I really needed], and a sweet little folding mirror to slip into one's purse - all will be put to good use in time.
I find that in every package I receive there is always one highlight. I know this seems silly, but in the parcel I received from Frances the highlight for me was the beautiful card that she included. I just have to share it with everyone. Oh, to live in times where clothing was so glamorous!!! The simple colour pallette used in this card exudes class in my opinion, and I shall enjoy it for a long time to come. I am sorry the camera flash has spotted the photograph.
Thank you Frances, I am overwhelmed by your generosity.
And now to another gift I received not long ago. I recently participated in a bit of fun on Jenster's blog - http://jennie61.blogspot.com/
Jennie very kindly sent me these little handbag must have's - a little notebook with hand embroidered cover [somewhere to record the stitching 'needs'], and a little 'named' pouch. This little pouch holds a lovely carry bag, at the ready for those stitching purchases. I have to say I think it may belong to another Linda, as I would put the description of the one who lives here as 'easily distracted'............... Thank you so much Jennie for these. I will continue the 'pay it forward' fun soon. I am busy with a stitching job at the moment, and need to sort out something suitable for that type of give-away. I hope when I post it, people will consider being part of the fun.
Thank you all again for taking an interest in my posts. I do appreciate the time people put into reading blogs and commenting. We all have so much to learn from one another, and I for one, enjoy the experience.
Some weeks ago I was fortunate to have been chosen a winner on Shirley's blog. I received this lovely piece of crazy patchwork in the mail earlier in the week, and thought I would share my joy here. There are so many lovely elements to this piece, I'm overwhelmed. I am not sure how I'll present it at this stage, but I do hope I can use this gift wisely.
You can view Shirley's blog here: http://shirleystwistedthreads.blogspot.com/
Please take some time to read Shirley's posts and share her interests. I have found her to be a most enthusiastic embroiderer, and a friendly and giving person. Thank you so much Shirley for your generosity.
I seem to be having quite a deal of good fortune of late. I still have some lovely fat quarters and a little hardanger doiley to share - more goodies from my patchwork group luncheon.
